The complex will include a new City Hall and Recreation offices, as well as new facilities for police and municipal courts. The structures will be arranged around a 12-acre passive recreational area.
The $17.5 million project will occupy two separate sites approximately 3 blocks away from each other, both on Poinsett Street in the City’s downtown.
In addition, the firms will design improvements to the Horace McKown Center (a public gymnasium), the Depot Street public parking lot and downtown streetscape improvements.
Construction on the initial phase of the project could begin as early as the summer of 2006.
