The newly-renovated Township Auditorium in Columbia, South Carolina opened its doors in June. Craig Gaulden Davis collaborated with Stevens & Wilkinson of Columbia to produce a design that moved the circa-1930 structure’s entrance facade 25 feet towards Taylor Street. New Lobby space and badly-needed support facilities were constructed in the gap. The 3000-seat auditorium itself was repainted and the stage equipped with new rigging and performance lighting systems.
CGD’s Scott Simmons, Andrea Kuhfuss, Dustin Albright and Ron Geyer attended the opening Gala, part of a three-day celebration that featured singer Tony Bennett.
Contract Construction of Ballentine, South Carolina was the general contractor.
