Hansen Elected to USGBC National Committee

CGD Associate and Architect John Hansen was recently elected to serve as the Southeast Representative for the US Green Building Council’s (USGBC) Chapter Steering Committee. The USGBC, a 501(3)(c) nonprofit organization, is committed to a prosperous and sustainable future for our nation through cost-efficient and energy-saving green buildings.  With 77 chapters nationwide, USGBC is best known for the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) green building rating system, which promotes application of green building strategies and provides third-party verification for projects seeking certification. The Chapter Steering Committee (CSC) provides expertise, perspective, market intelligence, and best practices to advance the mission of the USGBC.  Hansen was the first chairman of USGBC-SC Upstate, founded in 2007, and has served in numerous leadership roles.

 

Coal Chutes

Coal Yard small for FB

The office of Craig Gaulden Davis is located at 19 Washington Park, on the site of an abandoned coal yard.  Recently, overgrowth was removed, revealing this interesting structure.  Trains ran on the trestle above, and dumped their coal cargo down the chutes into the coal yard.
