What is the role of the physical environment in the educational process?
Studies show that increasing the amount of daylight in classrooms can improve test scores. The creative use of color and texture can increase the motivation of students and teachers alike. Public access to a school's performance or meeting spaces, continuing education classes or athletic facilities can promote community participation.
For more than forty years, Craig Gaulden Davis has been designing school facilities that encourage educational achievement and support community involvement. We continually test new materials and techniques that enhance safety and durability while shortening construction schedules. We study and implement new systems that not only save time and money during the building phase but also lower operational costs and environmental impact.
As the designer of the first educational facility in South Carolina to receive the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification from the US Green Building Council, Craig Gaulden Davis has the hands-on experience to design and build schools that educate today's students and help preserve the environment for generations to come.
