The renovation of Furman University’s Student Center brought new life to a dark and uninviting 1950’s building and became a recruiting tool for this renowned liberal arts
university. A significant portion of the adjacent lake had to be closed in order to provide space to double the size of the building, and operations were not interrupted during the renovation. The additions honored the original design while creating an open “link” which serves as the primary entrance and organizing component.
