Renovation in a Historic Context by Historic Columbia (SC) Foundation
Since its debut in 1930, the Township Auditorium has been part of the social fabric of Columbia, SC. It has hosted thousands of events, from concerts, wrestling and boxing matches, comedy performances, political rallies, to graduations, reunions and conventions. CGD evaluated the existing building and recommended changes and additions to streamline backstage activities and improve the audience experience. The main façade was reconstructed in front of an expanded lobby, and a transparent new corner structure offers a dramatic new feature to passersby.
