The Peace Center, located on a historic, six-acre riverfront site in Downtown Greenville, offers a 2,100 seat concert hall, the 400 seat Dorothy Hipp Gunter Theatre, and an outdoor amphitheater. The open-air Wyche Pavilion and a three-story restaurant/meeting facility, both crafted from 19th Century structures found on-site, complete the complex. The planning process for the Peace Center was a catalyst for Greenville’s emerging Arts Community at that time and continues to be a renowned cultural arts center in the region.

In 2017, a $2.4 million dollar capital campaign launched renovations to the Peace Center that improved the audience chamber and accessibility.

CGD assisted the Peace Center in relocating the sound booth to the back of the concert hall (which involved lowering the floor of the existing control room for access to the booth). Accessibility was improved which includes a new ramp in the lobby to access house right and new wheelchair spaces at the end of the aisles dispersed throughout the main level. Additionally, handrail modifications in the balconies to improve safety and visibility

Some updates were made to the assisted-listening systems with re-location of the soundboard to the center of the chamber’s back wall to improve the sound experience for patrons and free up a section of prime seating.
