By | News | No Comments

The Summer 2011 issue of Ascent magazine, published by the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute, features an article written by Scott Powell, Vice President and Secretary of Craig Gaulden Davis.  IEQ – A Key to Better Environments focuses on best practices for effective, healthy schools and features CGD-designed A.J. Whittenberg Elementary School of Engineering in downtown Greenville, SC.

A separate article in the same issue, Designing Schools for a Changing Future, by Perkins + Will’s Patrick Glenn, relies on two other CGD projects – Carolina High School and Travelers Rest High School – as examples.

Building Generocity

FPC Sanctuary renderingFirst Presbyterian Church of Augusta, Georgia, has established a new website dedicated to a campaign for support of her ministry in downtown Augusta.  First Presbyterian is a rare downtown church that’s growing in spite of its location, primarily through the addition of young families.

The website, Building Generocity, is an extension of the church’s work toward creating a “culture of generosity”.  One of the campaign’s immediate goals is to pay for renovations to the church’s 200-year-old sanctuary and to add children’s ministry space.  The site features watercolors by Iain Stewart, one of which is featured at right.  Go to www.buildinggenerocity.org to see the rest.
