CGD architect John Hansen has been elected to serve as the 2011 Vice Chairman for the US Green Building Council’s Southeast Regional Committee (SERC). He also received USGBC South Carolina’s Keith Sanders Service Award for his distinguished service in advancing green building in South Carolina.
The US Green Building Council (USGBC) is a non-profit trade organization that promotes sustainability in how buildings are designed, built, and operated. USGBC is best known for the development of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) green building rating systems. SERC consists of 26 representatives from 13 chapters located in 9 southeast States, and is responsible for facilitating collaboration and strengthening partnerships between USGBC chapters.
Hansen has been the South Carolina representative since 2009 and has served as the Chairman of the 2011 USGBC-SERC Leadership Summit, the 2010 USGBC South Carolina Chapter Board, the USGBC-SC Sustain SC 2009 Conference and Expo. He was the first Chairman of the USGBC-SC Upstate Branch, which was founded in 2007.
