CGD architect John Hansen has been elected to a second two-year term as USGBC South Carolina’s representative to the US Green Building Council’s Southeast Regional Committee (SERC). He currently serves as SERC Vice Chairman.
The US Green Building Council (USGBC) is a non-profit trade organization that promotes sustainability in how buildings are designed, built, and operated. It is best known for the development of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) green building rating systems.
SERC consists of 26 representatives and associates from 13 chapters located in 9 southeast States, and is responsible for facilitating collaboration and strengthening partnerships between USGBC chapters. In recent years Leadership and Chapter Development has become a key initiative for this committee.
Hansen has been the South Carolina representative since 2009 and has served as the Chairman of the 2011 USGBC-SERC Leadership Summit, the 2010 USGBC South Carolina Chapter Board, the USGBC-SC Sustain SC 2009 Conference and Expo. He was the first Chairman of the USGBC-SC Upstate Branch, which was founded in 2007.
