The students at Jackson Middle School in Aiken County are enjoying their lunch breaks this year in a day lit cafeteria addition designed by CGD. The addition to Jackson’s 50+ year-old gymnasium includes a concessions room, new kitchen, and restrooms to serve the basketball fans and students. The dining room is full of natural light from overhead clerestories. The fluorescent lighting is tied to photocells, eliminating the need for electric lighting during most of the day. Seating capacity is 350 at tables, and double that when the stage is used for gatherings, concerts, or other presentations. The kids like the custom team spirit Indian heads, designed by CGD and cut from solid aluminum sheet. Go Indians!
