A sculpture of Peg Leg Bates, by Joe Thompson of the Governor’s School, was the 62nd piece of public art in the city, noted Ed Zeigler, Chair of Greenville’s Arts in Public Places Commission. The sculpture is located at the corner of Spring Street and East Washington, near the former site of The Liberty Theatre, where Bates launched his dancing career in the 1920’s.
