The new athletic center and arena for Harford Community College serves the athletic needs of the students, recreation for the community and is the largest multi-purpose assembly space in northeast Maryland. The 2,500-seat NCAA standard basketball venue also serves concerts, trade shows, lectures, high school graduations and county-wide civic events.
The Susquehanna Athletic Center contains a newly renovated gymnasium, fitness center, swimming pool, dance studio, flexible, multi-modal collaborative learning spaces and a suite of athletic faculty offices.
The project meets the requirements for a LEED Silver certification. Ornamental sun-shades, a water harvesting system, solar hot water heating for the pool and roof-mounted photovoltaics are some of the sustainable features designed.
