On November 11, 2020, the County of Bamberg dedicated a new veterans memorial that honors each branch of the United States Armed Forces (USAF). The park is an arrangement of seven plazas set at the gateway into the City along Highway 78.
The central plaza is the focal point to recognize the contributions of all branches of the armed forces with three 35′ flag poles and a brick sculpture called “By Land, By Sea, By Air” by Brad Spencer. Each of the 6 smaller plazas honor a branch of the USAF and Carlisle Military Academy. The plazas feature seat walls, a single flag pole, the branch seal set into a stone marquee, engraved inspiring quotes, and the motto.
Space for future expansion of the park is planned to accommodate future branches and monuments to those who have served in the armed forces.
