The Peace Center is on track to realize a master plan that activates its entire campus at the intersection of Broad and Main Streets and is bordered by the Reedy River. To achieve a 10-venue arts and entertainment campus, the Peace Center launched AMP (A Music Project) which adds two new and different music venues to Greenville’s music scene, The Mockingbird and Coach Music Factory. “AMP is the Peace Center’s answer to the Upstate’s hunger for more live music,” says Peace Center President & CEO Megan Riegel.

The Coach Music Factory

The Coach Music Factory will be a three-level, flat-floor music club with a fun, casual environment. The project entails an approximately 21,000 sf renovation of the historic Coach Factory building which is one of Greenville oldest pieces of architecture.

The existing alley between Gunter Theatre and Coach Music Factory building will be filled in to create a glass-front entry from the Graham Plaza and provide circulation space for the venue. The main performance space is within the existing brick building and the two upper floors will be open to create balconies looking down on the stage. The stage is within a new glass addition which will have 4 large folding doors that open to the new exterior balcony and terrace.  Level 1 is standing room only. Level 2 is a mix of lounge and standing room while Level 3 is all lounge space. The venue will have bars on each level and will reach total capacity at 1300 people.

The interior design highlights existing architectural features of exposed wood beams, aged brick, and hardwood flooring, combining those with contemporary finishes such as polished concrete flooring, striking large format tiles, and an industrial-inspired bar.  The incorporation of carriage wheel-shaped elements is used throughout the design to pay homage to the history of the existing space.

Exterior modifications also include replacement of all windows, brick wall repair, new standing seam metal roof, and exterior stairs.
