As the centerpiece of a public park (also designed by CGD), the library contains a 300 seat performing hall, conference center, and café. By combining several uses in one facility, CGD helped the County maximize their resources through shared spaces. The library is organized over two floors with a two story reading room facing the park and amphitheater. The Children’s Area features a wood and glass-enclosed “tree house” (program room) and a floor pattern that emulates fallen leaves.
“CGD showed great efficiency in keeping our team focused on task, not an easy job when the team consisted of so many library employees, board members, county officials, and interested arts groups. We were all impressed at the speed with which the architects incorporated our ideas. Their presentations were impressive, clearly explained and professionally paced.”
