This “phoenix” draws from the architectural character of the original city hall, demolished over two decades ago, and provides a contemporary home for city offices, municipal court and city council operations, police headquarters and community development offices. The majestic clock tower anchors the southern end of the commercial district and serves as an ever-present symbol of government throughout the city. Brick detailing pays homage to the textile heritage of the region, open windows highlight the central public lobby, and the adjacent park provides intimate gathering spaces.
• Clock tower recalls the original turn of the century city hall
