Founded in 1935, the Poinsett Club occupies a historic 1904 Colonial Revival residence in Greenville’s Pettigru District. Craig Gaulden Davis | PBK was engaged to develop a comprehensive master plan to guide the Club’s long-term renovation and expansion while preserving its historic character and enhancing the member experience.
The Club’s historic ballroom renovation introduced new architectural beams that improve acoustics while discreetly integrating upgraded lighting and audio systems. Concealed projection screens, new chandeliers, and refreshed floors, trim, and molding preserve the ballroom’s timeless character while supporting contemporary event needs. Additional phases include the transformation of the lower-level dining space into a more relaxed and functional environment, with improvements to circulation, accessibility, service operations, and member amenities.
The final phase of the master plan includes a significant addition and renovation featuring a new à la carte kitchen, relocated Poinsett Room, expanded dining and bar spaces, accessible restrooms, and new vertical circulation connecting all three levels. Throughout the project, the design balances modern functionality with the Club’s established identity, reinforcing its legacy while positioning it for future growth.
