Southern First Bank is excited to share its vision for their new headquarters at the corner of Laurens Road and Verdae Boulevard. As a gateway to Greenville, it serves as a symbol of the Bank’s progressive business style and its commitment to the values that define Greenville and the Upstate.
Southern First’s new 5-story building makes a progressive corporate statement to strengthen its cultural foundation and attract the talent needed to continue building and growing its brand. The design’s crisp detailing, high-quality materials, warm tones, and transparency are a strong addition to the region’s expanding collection of significant corporate architecture and will enhance the architectural vocabulary of continued developments in the area.
The building is sited to engage the intersection of Laurens Road and Verdae boulevard to maximize visibility and showcase the firm’s brand. The size of the structure and its unique design character appropriately engage the intersection and its approaches. The site organization establishes a parkland setting with access from Bonaventure Drive, appropriately designed signage, well-landscaped grounds and parking lots, and a pedestrian-friendly entry plaza. The 7-acre parcel is planned to accommodate a future multi-story building at the corner of Verdae Boulevard and Bonaventure Drive.
The “shifted” 20,000 square foot floor plate will reduce the scale and massing of the facades. The sloping roof structures and covered roof terraces at the corners create a dynamic façade and distinctive executive level on the upper floor. The projecting two-story portion facing the entrance court that includes the lobby, café, community event spaces, and roof terrace reduces the scale of the building from the primary vehicular and pedestrian approach and provides an attractive entry façade. The exterior materials are predominantly stone cladding and aluminum curtainwall with wood and metal accents.
Project designed in association with SMHa, Inc. out of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.
