Last year, Craig Gaulden Davis was on the team, led by Earth Design, to develop a master plan for a series of state parks along a 70-mile stretch of the Black River. If you’re following the project like we are, below are a few updates:
- The Black River Initiative secured $4.6M in federal funds to support park development on Kingstree’s Black River Landing, Williamsburg County’s Ben Ervin Landing, and Georgetown County/Winyah River Alliance’s Rocky Point Community Forest.
- An archeological study was completed and the parcels designated to be state parks have been transferred to South Carolina State Parks Recreation Tourism.
- South Carolina State Parks named James Revis as the new Regional Director to oversee the Black River Parks. We wish him a warm welcome.
