Downtown Charleston School to be Made New

By January 12, 2011January 25th, 2021Design

Craig Gaulden Davis is part of a team that has been selected by the Charleston County School District to design Buist Academy in downtown Charleston. Buist Academy, originally built in 1928, was recently condemned because the structure would not meet current seismic requirements. The brick veneer of the original structure will be preserved while a three story building will be constructed that will house an International Baccaulaurete school for K5 through eighth grade.

CGD will work in association with Stubbs Muldrow Herin Architects in Mt. Pleasant. CGD/SMHa recently collaborated on the award-winning Mt. Pleasant Academy that opened in 2009.
