The Innovation Center for Archbishop Spalding High School is a 6,300 sf design + maker space for three programs; Engineering, Robotics and Cybersecurity. Flexible, multi-modal learning spaces rich with digital collaborative technology are provided for each program and each have access to a high-bay maker space offering a collection of construction tools, machines and group assembly tables. Spaces are equipped to encourage the creative and construction talents. All spaces are enclosed with glass partitions to facilitate the iterative process of design/build/test and repeat; as well as to open the creative spaces to views of nature. The building is veneered in materials similar to those students use to construct their machines. Building elements are exposed to make construction a learning opportunity.
