Looking to build on the success of development in Evans, GA, Columbia County commissioned CGD to develop ideas for a town center in Harlem, GA that would include a variety of public and private developments to help create a strong sense of place in the heart of this small railroad town.
The centerpiece of the master plan is a new 15,000 square foot library that tripled the size of the existing facility and provides state of the art technology and learning resources for citizens. The library was designed to create a strong civic presence utilizing a classically derived stone entrance portico and a well-articulated brick façade with large, contemporary windows to provide visibility into the building and natural lighting throughout.
