Craig Gaulden Davis designed an elegant renovation and addition of the historic Hayne School building for the new headquarters of Foster Victor Wealth Advisors. Located in the Pettigru District of Downtown Greenville, the circa 1920 structure maintains its historic façade while the design celebrates the character of the original building with a new open floor plan, refinished original hardwood floors, exposed brick and natural light through large historic windows. Glass partitions were used to for transparency and openness while maintaining the function of contemporary work spaces with private and communal offices, conference rooms, common spaces, etc. The exterior addition takes shape as a dark brick veneer feature wall that creates a ‘face’ for three terraces at the rear; each opening frames views of the Upstate foothills. The upper level indoor/outdoor kitchen and breakroom with a large Nanawall opens to an exterior covered terrace with stairs leading to the outdoor lounge on the middle tier. Collectively, the design provides a contemporary office for Foster Victor Wealth Advisors while helping them attract and retain workforce talent in a highly competitive field.
The building, at 10 Toy Street, is on the National Register of Historic Places.
