Green Street Academy is a Baltimore City Charter School that serves 875 students from grades 6 to 12.  The design solution re-imagines 100,000 SF of the original 1925 Baltimore City Public School.  Innovative spaces include Urban Agriculture, Construction Design Management, Nursing Assistant Certification as well as core classes, all designed through the lens of sustainability and 21st century learning excellence.  The design includes hoop house farming, fish farming, a public orchard, instructional landscape bio-swales and gardens, water resource exhibit and several solar arrays.  A central courtyard is glass enclosed and features an aquaponics center allowing students to experience interactive learning through fish farming, raising vegetables and the clean water cycle.   At the time of building completion it was the second largest LEED Platinum v3 school in the world.

*Design led by Jim Determan, FAIA while at Hord Coplan Macht, Architect of Record.
